Home Outage Alert. Effective date: 16 October 2026.
Home Outage Alert is an awareness tool. It is not an alarm, monitoring or emergency service.
It tells you when the Ring devices at your home lose contact with Ring together, and when they are back. That can mean a power or internet outage, but the app cannot tell which, and it cannot prevent or fix anything.
Alerts can be late, or never arrive
- Ring reports a device offline about 12 minutes after it loses contact. Alerts usually arrive within about 15 to 20 minutes, sometimes later.
- Short outages, outages at homes with only one Ring device, and devices that do not report their connection to Ring can be missed or reported as something else.
- Delivery depends on Ring, on our cloud service, on Apple and Google push services, on email providers and on your mobile network.
The absence of an alert does not mean your home has power or internet.
Do not rely on it where harm could follow
Do not use Home Outage Alert for any purpose where a missed, late or wrong alert could lead to death, injury or damage to property: for example to look after medical equipment, pumps, freezers, or people or animals in your care. Make your own arrangements for those.
By using Home Outage Alert you accept that you remain responsible for your home and everything in it. The full terms are in the Terms of Service.
